EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT COMPLETED AT THE PLYMOUTH HISTORICAL |
Christopher Potoski, son of Carl, Jr. and Patty Potoski, of Plymouth,
stands with his father, beside the Eagle Scout Project he has completed at the
Plymouth Historical Society in Plymouth. Potoski is a member of Troop 456 of
Plymouth; Scout Master, John Sherrill.
Potoski’s project consisted of painting and refurbishing two display cases
and the shelving, preparing them to display personal and public memorabilia of
Governor Arthur H. James, the only Pennsylvania Governor from Plymouth, PA. In
addition to preparing the display cases, Potoski assisted in placing the
Governor's collection, and with the help of Scout Leader, John Sherrill, in
hanging photographs of Governor James and his family.
These
photographs include the wedding picture of James’s first wife, Ada Norris, and a
large portrait of his son, Arthur H., Jr. who died in 1939. The items on display
were donated by William Powell, the last living member of Governor James’ direct
personal family. Bill Powell often visited the PHS and was adamant he wanted the
Governor's items displayed in Plymouth, James' home town. The Pennsylvania
Historical Society has asked for, and been given, permission to scan and
preserve for their records, many of the displayed items. Potoski is a Sophomore
at Wyoming Valley High School.
This display is open to the public during PHS regular hours; Thursday and
Saturday, 12 noon to 4 pm.
